As a State University that is committed to improving the quality of service to the entire academic community and stakeholders outside ITS, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember is constantly improving the performance of administrative services within ITS. One of the administrative activities carried out in the ITS environment is archive management activities as a source of vital information for ITS and letter distribution activities as a means of communication for an organization.
The Archives Subdivision is one of the supporting elements that has the responsibility of managing information both in the form of letters and archives. The ITS Archives Unit is a unit that was just formed in 2012 as a form of ITS response to Law No. 43 of 2009 concerning archives which in one of its articles states that every State University is required to form a Higher Education archive. In addition, the existence of RI Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure provides an obligation for every Government institution including State Universities to provide information to the public optimally.
ITS's ability to provide this information must obviously be supported by a good and centralized information management system. This role can be carried out by the ITS Archives Subdivision. The Archives Subdivision is under the coordination of the TUK Section of the General Bureau, in which one of the three field programs is to create more effective and efficient information distribution management procedures through the implementation of integrated information systems and e-services. In addition to revamping archive management throughout the ITS environment, the Archives Subdivision is currently also developing information technology-based archive management management.
