From a single initial step, a long journey began. From a single leadership, a civilization of knowledge flourished. Since its establishment in 1960, the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has traversed various phases of development. 1st Rector | 1960–1964
Laid part of the initial foundation for ITS’s journey as a technological university dedicated to serving the nation through knowledge.
2. Col. (Ret.) Ir. Marseno Wirjosapoetra
2nd Rector | 1964–1968
Continued the institution's development and strengthened the foothold of ITS during its early growth phase.
3. Prof. Ir. R. Soemardijo
3rd Rector | 1968–1973
Maintained leadership continuity and the advancement of technological education at ITS.

4th Rector | 1973–1982
Led ITS through a long tenure and played a key role in the process of institutional strengthening.

5th Rector | 1982–1986
Advanced the journey of ITS toward increasingly mature educational and institutional development.

Guided ITS through a period of institutional development and increased academic contribution.
11. Prof. Ir. Joni Hermana, M.Sc.ES., Ph.D.
11th Rector | 2015–2019
Led ITS in further strengthening its academic reputation, research, innovation, and contribution to society.
12. Prof. Dr. Ir. Mochamad Ashari, M.Eng.
12th Rector | 2019–2024
Led ITS in facing major challenges, including the pandemic, while strengthening the university's transformation into a State University with Legal Entity status (PTN-BH) and achieving "Superior" (Unggul) accreditation.

Carries on the leadership of ITS with a vision to develop the university into a Sustainable University. He was officially inaugurated as the Rector of ITS for the 2024–2029 term in April 2024.
